This suction pressure roll was manufactured using a proprietary Sandusky "Alloy 86" duplex stainless steel suction press roll shell and is intended for operation in tissue manufacturing in the papermaking industry. The suction pressure roll was engineered by Sandusky to be installed utilizing the existing mountings on the tissue machine. The suction pressure roll and its shell were designed to allow the customer the flexibility to operate their paper machine at higher line loads.
Sandusky started by taking on-site measurements at the customer's manufacturing facility to ensure proper design and installation. These measurements were used to develop design drawings that were presented to the customer for review and approval. Once the design had been finalized, Sandusky began the manufacturing process by casting the suction shell. Using the same combination of manufacturing processes as we do for other custom manufactured steel suction press roll shells, we cast the shell, and then it is machined and rough bored before finish machining. Upon completion, the suction pressure roll's shell outside diameter without cover measured 31.50 inches, the inside diameter measured 26.19 inches, and was 192.00" in length. Next, we gun drilled the surface of the shell with the designed hole diameter and orientation for the application. The shell was then shipped to the cover manufacturer for installation of a drilled rubber cover. The drilled rubber covered shell was then returned to Sandusky for balancing and installation on the new set of suction pressure roll internals as depicted in our Alloy EPV Stainless Steel Suction Box Shell for the Papermaking Industry.
The completed rubber covered suction pressure roll was fully inspected to ensure all standards were met then we packaced and shipped the suction pressure roll to our client in Mexico. For more details about this project and others, please contact Sandusky International.
