Since 1963, over 60,000 Sandusky Polycast Shells have been sold and virtually all are still delivering trouble free performance. They are widely used in paper machines for felt, wire turning, reel and winder roll bodies, as well as reel spools.
Centrifugal casting using ASTM A27 Gr. N-1 mild carbon steel ensures there is no need to be concerned that the roll body will move over time because of added or induced stresses that are introduced in the manufacturing processes of others types of tubing.
Their excellent straightness, roundness and naturally uniform wall thickness greatly facilitates machining, roll finishing and balancing. Only minimal balance weights are typically needed. The wall variation is so slight that the shells frequently require no boring.
Most are supplied as-cast, but can be machined by Sandusky to your specifications. With our large custom built machines we can turn and bore all shells we produce.
Sandusky Centrifugally Cast Polycast® Shells are very stable. Rolls made with Sandusky Polycast shells will maintain their natural shape and balance year after year. Sandusky Polycast shells offer a high degree of uniformity, no weld seam and equal properties in all directions.
